ALPHEOUS NXUMALO SPEAKS HIS TRUTH: I AM NOT ARROGANT; I BELONG TO THE NNLC AND I ADMIRE THE REFORMS UNDER TINKHUNDLA

Government spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo has spoken for the first time and argues his brash and "arrogant" persona was an act and not his personality.

Speaking during an interview with The Bridge this week, Nxumalo said his personality was not as assumed by the public. He said his combative and seemingly arrogant personality was a necessary act out of character in response to the political environment of the last few years.

Nxumalo said he needed to act as he did because the country was in a political environment that needed him to be strong and confident to help the government fight what he termed an unfair media onslaught.

Nxumalo also told the Bridge that he was never a member of PUDEMO instead was part of the Ngwane National Liberation Congress (NNLC) and that as a party they had always believed in participating in the political process following in the footsteps of people like the late Deputy Prime Minister Albert Heshane Shabangu, the late DPM Arthur R V Khoza Khoza, Prime Minister Obed Dlamini from among many others.

He said he belonged to the NNLC and was averse to boycotts. He then answered several questions that The Bridge put to him

1. On political reforms and his “people get ready” movement

2. On crisis at UNISWA Arrest of drugs shortage perpetrators

3. Progress on Thulane investigation

4. Response to Tanele Maseko

5. On corruption in government Sibaya and dialogue

6. The silent war with Percy Simelane

7. Extradition of what government calls Swazi terrorists in South Africa

8. Novel living wage plan for the unemployed

10. Bacede´s arrests was not political and therefore matter cannot be resolved politically.

11. The explosive and no-holds-barred interview is premiering on The Bridge podcasts on Youtube and Facebook at 8pm on Sunday.
