Former Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO) Spokesperson Thantaza Silolo has married his long-time partner, Zanele Tsabedze.

The marriage took place at the District Commissioner's (DC) Offices on Friday 12 January 2024. Reached for comment, Silolo confirmed the union and mentioned that they fell in love in 2012 while he was still living in exile in South Africa.

“We met while we were part of a wedding party, back in 2008, although nothing happened in terms of a substantive relationship back then. Then, when I went to exile we reconnected,” said the former Swaziland Youth Congress (SWAYOCO) member who was once convicted of terrorism charges.

Before his arrest, Silolo was in exile but got arrested when he decided to come back home. He says his partner was the reason he decided to come back to the country.

“She never persuaded me to come back home but she was the reason I came back home. We wanted to get married in South Africa while I was in exile in 2012 but that country’s Home Affairs Ministry refused, citing that we were foreigners. As fate has it, in April 2013 I returned home and got jailed. This woman was very supportive and used to come to check on me in prison. We currently have a 19-month-old baby girl called Ing'phile Silolo,” said Silolo.
