GRANDMOTHER DIES AFTER WITNESSING GRANDDAUGHTER'S RAPE AND MURDER

Gogo Thembisile Msibi of Nkiliji, who helplessly witnessed the rape and murder of her granddaughter, has tragically passed away. The perpetrator, Siyabonga Mkhweli, suffered severe injuries inflicted by the community and remains incarcerated at Matsapha Maximum Prison.

Msibi's death followed a period of declining health, exacerbated by the trauma of witnessing her granddaughter's brutal killing. Nondumiso Vilakati was recently murdered by her ex-lover, Mkhweli, who raped her in front of her helpless grandmother. Adding to the tragedy, Vilakati was the sole source of compassionate care for her grandmother.

Previous caregivers hired by the Msibi family had not shown the same level of kindness. "Nondumiso was a true angel," a family member shared anonymously. "She treated Gogo Thembisile with such love and respect. It's heartbreaking that they both suffered such terrible fates." According to family members, Msibi was left without support after Vilakati's death.

Meanwhile, Mkhweli, apprehended and severely beaten by community members after the murder, has had his legs amputated. The community's retribution resulted in such extensive damage to his knees and legs that doctors were forced to perform the amputation. Police spokesperson Superintended Phindile Vilakati refused to comment on the progress of the case or if any arrests made.
